5. High-waisted items. Why would you want your tits to look lower?

6. The orange fake-tan phenomenon. Everyone in L.A. looks like a circus peanut.

7. Rompers. These look good on exactly two types of people: infants and Katy Perry. Besides, I don’t want to peel off my entire outfit when I need to urinate.

8. Popped collars. It’s like ’80s schoolyard bully-chic. Be the bigger man and tone it down, Trent.

9. Rubber rain boots in arid climates. Calling them “Wellies” doesn’t make you British. (P.S. I secretly want these.)

10. Rock T-shirts on babies. Please don’t use your 4-month-old child as hipster ad space.

Our little Daphne, aptly renamed "Lola Montez"

For those of you who know me, I’ve been wanting to adopt a cat forever. Unfortunately, the timing never seemed right due to busy work/travel/social lifestyle and living situation. However, within the past couple of months, the stars finally seemed to align and we decided it was time take the plunge into pet-parenthood…

We adopted a beautiful little domestic-medium-haired feline from a shelter yesterday. We went there with the full intention of adopting a kitten, and instead ended up with Daphne (we’ve since renamed her Lola Montez), a young cat of unknown age/origin. The moment she walked over and cocked her head at us, looking up with that sweet face and slightly sad/knowing expression, we were sold. The volunteers at the shelter don’t know much about her history other than the fact that she was dropped off there anonymously (someone left her on their doorstep) about 3 weeks ago. We think she’s somewhere between 2-3 years old and, although small for her age at a petite 8.5lbs, she appears to be in good health. Fortunately, she’s already been spayed and - according to medical records provided by the shelter - is up-to-date on all routine shots. 

We’re currently going through a “transitional phase” – I’m sure she’s probably terrified by the ongoing upheaval in her young life, hence the reason she’s been hiding since we brought her home yesterday. She hasn’t come out for food or water and doesn’t appear to be using her litter box. Despite the fact that we haven’t really had the opportunity to bond yet, I’m holding out hope that Lola will be comfortable enough to venture out of hiding and visit us within the next couple of days…
